Effective May 4, 2026 · Supersedes all prior versions

Magister Operis respects the privacy of every person who visits this website or corresponds with the firm. This policy explains what information is collected, why it is collected, and how it is handled. The policy is short by design — the firm collects little, sells nothing, and treats correspondence as confidential by default.

Who we are

This site is operated by William C. Kemper, doing business as Magister Operis, in Gainesville, Georgia, United States. References to "we," "us," "the firm," and "Magister Operis" throughout this policy refer to that operation. The contact address for any privacy question is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

What we collect

The firm collects only the information needed to respond to a visitor and run a business website. In practice that means three categories:

Information you give us directly. When you complete the qualification form, send an email, or otherwise correspond with the firm, we receive the information you choose to include — typically your name, your role, your company, your contact details, and the substance of your inquiry.

Standard server logs. Our hosting provider records the routine technical information that all web servers record: the requesting IP address, the page requested, the timestamp, the browser identifier, and the referring page. These logs are used to operate and protect the site.

Optional analytics and translation. The site offers an in-page Google Translate widget for visitors who prefer a different language. If you use it, Google receives the page content you translate under Google's own privacy terms. The site does not currently use third-party advertising trackers, behavioral profiling, or marketing pixels.

How we use what we collect

Information you submit through the qualification portal or by direct correspondence is used to evaluate, prepare for, and conduct the engagement you are inquiring about. It may be shared, only on a need-to-know basis, with the firm's affiliates, professional counsel, or institutional partners when their involvement is required to advance your matter — and only to the extent your matter actually requires it.

Server logs are used for operational purposes: keeping the site available, diagnosing problems, and protecting against abuse.

What we don't do

The firm does not sell, rent, or trade your information to advertisers, list brokers, or marketing aggregators. The firm does not use your information to retarget you with advertising on other sites. The firm does not build behavioral profiles of visitors. The firm does not run third-party advertising on this site.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of cookies for routine functions only — for example, remembering that you have viewed a notice, keeping your qualification form progress between sessions, and securing administrative areas of the site. The firm does not use cookies for cross-site tracking or advertising.

How long we keep information

Correspondence and qualification submissions are retained for as long as the matter is active and for a reasonable period afterward consistent with the firm's business and legal record-keeping. Server logs are retained for the period maintained by the hosting provider. If you would like a record of, or the deletion of, information you have submitted, write to the address above.

Your rights

You may ask the firm to confirm what information it holds about you, to correct it, or to delete it. The firm will respond to a reasonable written request from any visitor regardless of jurisdiction. Visitors in the European Union, the United Kingdom, California, and other jurisdictions with formal data-protection regimes have the additional rights granted by local law; the firm will honor those rights consistent with the law that applies to you.

Third-party services

The site is hosted by a commercial web hosting provider that maintains its own security practices and privacy terms. The site loads typography from Google Fonts and the optional translation widget from Google Translate; both are governed by Google's privacy terms when used. The site does not embed social media tracking pixels.

Confidentiality of business correspondence

Correspondence sent to the firm in connection with a transaction or potential transaction is treated as confidential by default. The firm uses information you share to advance the matter you have raised; it does not publish, syndicate, or otherwise disclose your information outside the engagement.

Children

This site is intended for adult professional audiences. The firm does not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information through the site, please write to the address above and the firm will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If the firm materially changes this policy, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. The current version always supersedes all prior versions.
